1919 The journey began with a passion to support Japan. On August 13, our company was established by the pioneers from Suzuki Shoten, a world-class trading company. The company was named “NIPPON TOOL MFG. CO., LTD. (Nippon Kogu Seisaku Co., Ltd.)” at the time and specialized in shovels, proudly displaying the Tombo trademark. 1920 Our much-anticipated first product, the Tombo brand shovel, has been released. Why Tombo (dragonfly) ? The dragonfly has been cherished as a symbol of Japan since ancient times. To express our intention to support Japan, we chose the Tombo mark as our trademark. In our desire to aid in the reconstruction efforts following the Great Kanto Earthquake, we provided shovels—our signature product—to the Kanto region as essential tools for rebuilding in 1923. 1951 From agricultural tools maker to construction equipment maker. With an influx of shovel orders and our debut order for construction equipment igniting enthusiasm in our company. Then, we decided to manufacture winches and mixers to concentrate our efforts on machine production. 1958 Our first-ever asphalt plant has been completed. After World War II, the U.S. military bases drew attention for their asphalt paving, inspiring our company to start producing asphalt plants. We successfully developed a prototype by gathering opinions from the Ministry of Construction and paving industry experts. 1968 Company name changed to NIKKO CO., LTD. As our business evolved from the production of agricultural tools to the production of construction machinery, belt conveyors, and other related products, the company name was changed to NIKKO CO., LTD. The new name “NIKKO” has been familiar to our customers and partners as our nickname since we were established. 1988 Our journey beyond borders has officially begun. The international acclaim for our technology has motivated us to expand our operations and open a liaison office in Taiwan. Our plants, both new and used, have been beloved by customers worldwide. 2004 The dawn of our first overseas manufactory. The completion ceremony for our first overseas manufactory, NIKKO (SHANGHAI) CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY CO., LTD., Jiading Plant, has been conducted. We have decided to actively expand our business in Asian countries. 2019 Celebrating a century of achievement! Our new saga has begun in Thailand. To commemorate our 100th anniversary, we embarked on an ambitious new chapter by expanding our footprint into Southeast Asia. In 2020, we officially established our presence in Thailand with the launch of both a specialized asphalt plant manufacturing facility and a dedicated sales office. This strategic move marks our commitment to supporting ASEAN's infrastructure with a century of expertise and innovation. Currently operating as NIKKO ASIA-ENGINEERING (THAILAND) CO., LTD.
